Classes & Events at the Les Cheneaux Culinary School

Classes are taught by professional chefs and talented cooks, and offer a seasonal array of ways to celebrate cooking and gathering, with a focus on fresh, local foods in season. Classes are offered in the fall and winter, and will be at the Les Cheneaux Culinary School in downtown Hessel. Les Cheneaux Culinary School also offers a professional chef’s certificate program September through May, followed by a summer internship at the school’s restaurant, Hessel Bay Inn. Wine Garage Sale
Saturday, April 30, 2016 12:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
The Les Cheneaux Culinary School is hosting an event to sell their HUGE inventory of wines. Come taste a variety of wines, learn a thing or two, and take a case (or few) at a great price! Also attend a lecture on wine for beginners from 1-2 pm. They will be serving a variety of hors d’oeuvres, including:

·       Whitefish dip
·       Duck confit
·       Egg rolls with chili ginger sauce
·       Crudités with wild ramp buttermilk dressing
·       Slider bar of Wagyu burgers
·       Pulled chicken
·       Grilled vegetables
·       Condiments of house-made ketchup, pickled red onions, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and potato chips

Les Cheneaux Arts Council

LCAC is a group of talented and diverse artists working in many genres and mediums. It offers events, courses, and workshops dedicated to the promotion of and participation in arts of the Les Cheneaux area. A full slate of summer classes is offered in July and August, wrapping up with a local artisan showcase at the end of August. Fiber Arts Classes and Groups

Classes offered right here in the Les Cheneaux Islands in the fuzzy arts of weaving, felt-making, knitting, crocheting, dyeing, spinning and more! Gather with a casual group of fellow knitters. Classes and gatherings will be at the loft above Pickle Point (Pickle Point Too!), and scheduled events will be posted here: Pickle Point on Facebook.


Classes at the Great Lakes Boat Building School

The Great Lakes Boat Building School on the beautiful Cedarville Bay waterfront offers the perfect opportunity to learn a new skill or brush up on rusty ones, or to fulfill a dream of building your own wooden boat. Classes are offered June through September, and include everything from simple wood working and carving, to construction of a canoe, kayak or row boat. Great Lakes Boat Building School offers nine-month and two-year degree programs in the art of wooden boat building and refinishing.
