August 21: Hessel Marketplace Flea Market, 10 am to 2 pm, at the Marketplace, 2900 W. M-134, Hessel. The Marketplace has different vendors weekly, offering everything from antiques, re-sale and rummage items, artisan works, produce, and more. Everyone welcome! Want to sell? Vendors can rent a 10×10 space for $5. Call Becky at 906.484.3913 for reservations, or just show up the morning of the market.

August 27: 15th Annual Slammin’ Salmon Derby, 6:30 am to 4:30 pm. Boats depart from Hessel Harbor. Weigh in at the Hessel Marina. Mandatory Friday, August 26 Captain’s Meeting at the Islander Bar, Hessel. Awards following final weigh-ins at the Islander Bar. August 27: 4th Annual Fireman’s Ball, 8 pm, Bumpas’ in Cedarville. All proceeds from the event benefit the Clark Township Fire Department!
